Sample bounce line
552 5.2.2 The recipient's inbox is out of storage space and inactive. Please direct the recipient to Manage files in your Google Drive storage.
What it means
The recipient's inbox is out of storage space and inactive, so Gmail cannot deliver the message. It is a permanent (5xx) failure.
Why it happens
- The recipient's Google storage quota is full (storage is shared across Google Drive, Gmail and Google Photos).
- The recipient's account is inactive.
How to fix it
- Contact the recipient by another channel and tell them their mailbox is full.
- Ask the recipient to free up storage by deleting files, emails or photos (Google: direct them to 'Manage files in your Google Drive storage').
- Resend once they confirm they have freed up space.
