What it means
The recipient address is invalid or does not exist. This is a permanent (5xx) failure.
Why it happens
- The recipient address has a spelling mistake or typo.
- The address has formatting errors such as quotation marks, extra dots or spaces.
- The account no longer exists or the contact details are out of date.
How to fix it
- Check the recipient address for spelling mistakes.
- Remove any quotation marks, extra dots or unnecessary spaces from the address.
- Confirm the recipient's current address with them (Google suggests checking Google Contacts for stale entries), then resend.
