The arithmetic: the published percentage times net freight charges. Your rate agreement can set a different fuel table or a cap, and a few carriers add points by region (Old Dominion says two more points may apply by origin or destination), so a difference here is a question to ask, not proof. The checker runs in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Questions
How is an LTL fuel surcharge worked out?
The carrier publishes a percentage for each week (or period), set from a diesel price index. Your invoice applies that percentage to the net freight charges, after your discount. The percentage that counts is the one for the ship date, not the invoice date.
Why can my invoice differ from these numbers?
Your rate agreement can name its own fuel table, a cap or a fixed rate. Some carriers add points by region. A cross-border or US shipment with FedEx Freight uses FedEx's US table, which is not on this page. If none of those apply and the fuel line is still higher, ask the carrier to re-rate it.
How often is this page updated?
The figures are refreshed from the carriers' and the EIA's pages about every three days and the page is rebuilt daily. FedEx Freight Canada changes its percentage each Monday; Old Dominion's periods start on a Wednesday.
